MAGMASOFT® Summer School: Shaping the Future of Foundry with Young Engineers

Since the beginning of its operations in Turkey, MAGMA has observed that one of the most frequently voiced needs in the foundry sector is the lack of well-trained and motivated young engineers willing to work in the industry. Although Turkish universities conduct world-class research in the fields of materials science and metallurgy, the number of young engineers specializing in foundry remains limited. Moreover, the widespread perception of foundries as “dirty, dusty, and challenging work environments” still persists, discouraging many students from pursuing careers in this field.

For MAGMA, promoting accurate information about foundry, highlighting the modern working conditions in today’s foundries, and encouraging young engineers to join the sector has always been a top priority. By providing software licenses to support academic studies, MAGMA has consistently contributed to raising awareness in this area. In line with this goal, the MAGMAacademy was established in Germany, offering seminars, workshops, and technical trainings. Since 2014, MAGMA Turkey has also been actively organizing similar activities under the MAGMAacademy umbrella.

MAGMASOFT Summer School

The MAGMASOFT Summer School, held annually, took place this year on August 12–14 at our training room in Istanbul. Over the course of three days, we hosted students selected from various universities’ Metallurgy and Materials Engineering departments. Participants were particularly those who are eager to improve themselves in the field of foundry and are motivated to pursue careers in the sector.

The program included intensive training on:

  • Fundamentals of MAGMASOFT®,
  • Simulation-based analysis of casting processes,
  • Investigation and improvement of casting defects,
  • Applications for enhancing efficiency and quality in foundries.

At the end of this intensive program, 10 students successfully completed their training, received their certificates, and reached a level where they can actively work with MAGMASOFT®.

Contribution to the Future

The Summer School not only provided students with valuable technical knowledge but also created opportunities for them to take an important step forward in their careers by preparing them to engage with leading companies in the sector.

As MAGMA Turkey, we take great pride in opening our doors to young engineers who aspire to build their careers in foundry and in contributing new talents to the industry. The strong interest shown in our Summer School serves as a powerful motivation for us to further develop and continue this program in the coming years.
